Report of the Third Monthly Meeting of Delhi State Chapter of IRIA held on 21st October 2023, Saturday afternoon at JPNA Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi
The third monthly meeting of the Delhi State chapter of IRIA for 2023 was held on 21st October 2023, Saturday afternoon at New Seminar Hall, JPNA Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi.
The meeting was coordinated by Prof Raju Sharma (Head), Prof. Atin Kumar and Prof. Shivanand Gamanagatti from the Department of Radiodiagnosis & Interventional Radiology, AIIMS New Delhi. Dr Mohak Narang & Dr Ankita Aggarwal from AIIMS exhibited full commitment in arranging the logistics and extending a warm hospitality to everyone.
The meeting began with a spicy Pizza treat with cold drinks! Prof Raju Sharma & Dr Deepak Gupta, President Delhi state chapter, welcomed the members to the event.
Dr Deepak Gupta delivered the welcome address and urged the newly joined residents to become members of the Delhi State Chapter of IRIA. He emphasized the importance of camaraderie among the members and the role of academics.
This was followed by oral case presentations which were judged by Dr. Shibani Mehra (Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, RML Hospital) and Dr. Devasenathipathy Kandasamy (Prof. Department of Radiodiagnosis & Interventional Radiology, AIIMS New Delhi).
The following presentations were done:
- Dr. Mohd Azhar, 3rd year PG resident Lady Hardinge medical College: Wunderlich syndrome secondary to angiomyolipomas in tuberous sclerosis: a comprehensive case study
- Dr Sanil Garg, 2nd year PG resident from AIIMS, New Delhi: Peri-biliary lesions in a Young male
- Dr Geetika Mittal Third year DNB resident Max superspeciality hospital, Saket: Imaging features of cholangiocarcinoma and differentiation from combined cholangio HCC
- Dr Saumya Negi PG resident GB pant hospital -GIPMER. Title: A large liver mass – an imaging diagnostic dilemma -melanoma
- Dr. Srinivas S Meharwade, 3rd year PG resident from AIIMS, New Delhi. Pancreatic IPMN & Field Defect
- Dr Rohan Luthra, Fellow, Abdominal and transplant imaging. Max Super-speciality Hospital, Saket, Title- mucinous cystic neoplasm of the liver with biliary communication and peritoneal rupture
- Dr. Junaid Kazmi, Fellow GI Imaging & Interventions from AIIMS, New Delhi: TIPS for obscure GI bleed
- Dr Saloni Jain PG student (3rd Year), GB Pant institute GIPMER: IgG4 cholangiopathy- CT/ MRI spectrum
- Dr. Harshita Arora, DNB 3rd year, Max Hospital, Saket, Topic – Unusual case of ileal GIST mimicking as uterine fibroid
- Dr Stuti Chandola Senior Resident AIIMS New Delhi. Peutz jegher syndrome presenting with intussception
- Dr. Anant Gupta, PG Resident, ABVIMS and DR. RML HOSPITAL, Unusual case of an adrenal mass in a pediatric patient
All the presenters were awarded certificates and gifts. Prof Raju Sharma applauded all the presenters and encouraged all residents for active participation in such academic events. The cases presented were of excellent standards and there were good interactive discussions after each case.
The following presenters were declared the best and were given additional certificates of award. These best presenters will also be awarded complimentary registration to Delhi Imaging Update 2023, the annual national conference of the Delhi state chapter of IRIA.

An interactive film-reading session on Abdominal Radiology was conducted by Dr Ankur Goyal (Additional Professor, Department of Radiodiagnosis & Interventional Radiology, AIIMS New Delhi). There were 6 teams from different institutes of Delhi:

All the teams participated enthusiastically to solve the mind-boggling cases! The judges for the film-reading session were Dr Rajesh Gothi sir (one of the senior most eminent radiologists of the state), Prof Amita Malik (Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital) and Prof Shivanand Gamanagatti (AIIMS). Winners of the film-reading session were awarded certificates and attractive gifts.
The meeting received a great response and was attended by more than 110 members from all over Delhi including radiology residents, faculty and practicing radiologists. It was heartening to see the enthusiastic participation by the presenters, residents and fellows. In addition to the applause for the awardees, the cheering done by the residents for teams / colleagues from their own institutes was also commendable!
The Meeting ended with Vote of Thanks by the Secretary Dr Ankur Goyal, with thanks to the esteemed faculty and all members of Delhi State chapter for their presence and active participation in the meeting.
