Indian Radiological and Imaging Association Delhi Chapter organized an online Master Class on Focal Liver Lesions on Sunday, 28th May, 2023. The talk was given by Dr Raju Sharma, Professor and Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis and Interventional Radiology, AIIMS, New Delhi, who is a pioneer in the field of abdominal imaging and a world-renowned academician. He is the IRIA Subspeciality Head for Abdominal Imaging & Past President Delhi State branch IRIA.
The live session started with short introductory remarks by Dr Deepak Gupta, President, IRIA Delhi and Dr Ankur Goyal, Secretary, IRIA Delhi.
In the beginning of his talk, Dr Raju Sharma delved into the utility of various imaging modalities for diagnosing and characterizing focal liver lesions along with providing the audience with a standardized MRI protocol that should be followed in clinical practice. The characteristic imaging appearances and differentials of various benign and malignant liver lesions were described in meticulous detail. Throughout his talk, Dr Raju stressed on the need for radiologists to be aware and to stay updated with the recent pathological and molecular classifications for various tumors, so as to provide vital inputs during multi-disciplinary team (MDT) meetings. In this regard, he cited a recently published review article in Radiographics (https://doi.org/10.1148/rg.210206) giving an update on morpho-molecular classifications of hepatic adenoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and intrahepatic cholangiocarcioma, which he urged the audience to read to get well-versed with this topic. During the entire session, Dr Raju showed a wide array of multi-modality imaging of liver lesions, covering both the common lesions, as well as the rare types. After the talk, there were several interesting questions sent by the attendees in the chat / query box and these were addressed in great detail by Dr Raju Sharma in conjunction with Dr Ankur Goyal.
The total duration of this in-depth class was around 90 minutes, which was attended by 300 participants. The average screen time of each attendee was approximately 60 minutes and at any given time, a minimum of 180 participants were always present. These numbers speak volumes about the high quality of the content discussed in the class.
To conclude the session, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Dr Raju Sharma by Dr Deepak Gupta and Dr Ankur Goyal on behalf of IRIA, Delhi Chapter. Dr Ankur also appreciated CLIRNET, the digital partner for this talk, for a smoothly conducted online session.
